Welcome
The young sow wild oats. The old grow sage.” — Winston Churchill
Welcome to Sister’s Folly. A place where you can find the “Middle-Aged” point of view.
We are two sisters in the prime of our lives and have become frustrated with the fact that we can’t find blogs (or anything) geared towards women our age (late 50s) and older. When we want to learn how to clean house efficiently, we don’t need steps like: Pick up all of the toys in the morning (ours are tucked away neatly in our bedside drawer, if that’s what they’re referring to). We have experiences that don’t seem to be discussed in ‘polite society’ and we’re not sure why. We have decided to start talking!
Initially, the idea of writing a blog seemed daunting. Scary even! I thought: I’m not the most clever person I know. I’m not the most creative, talented or attractive person I know. I’m not the most intelligent — Oh wait, yes I am. (Just kidding). What do we have to offer? I decided we are creative, talented and attractive. We’re smart enough to know that we have lots to share.
We have experienced much, and continue to experience more every day. Between the two of us we are traditional, opinionated, artistic, adventurous, thoughtful, confident, fashionable, open-minded, and unconventional. We’re not here to tell you what to do (you have enough people in the world doing that already!). We’re not here to tell you how to live or what to think. But if you need an idea, a suggestion, if you need to know you’re not alone, you just might find it here with us.
We want to celebrate being middle aged. We hope to inspire, entertain or alleviate fears you may be experiencing….. and maybe, just make some friends that we can learn from.
You’re the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be. (Not mine. I read it somewhere.)
